Mandy Moore The Next Big Disney Star?

Mandy Moore The Next Big Disney Star?

Amanda Leigh “Mandy” Moore (born April 10, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter, actress and fashion designer. She grew up in Florida. Moore became famous as a teenager in the late 1990s, after the release of her teen-oriented pop albums So Real, I Wanna Be with You, and Mandy Moore.

Moore subsequently branched out into a film career, starring in 2002’s A Walk to Remember and later appearing in the lead roles of other movies, such as Chasing Liberty, also aimed at teenage audiences.

Two of Moore’s later films, American Dreamz and Saved!, were satires. Her private life, including her relationships with tennis player Andy Roddick[1] as well as with actors Wilmer Valderrama and Zach Braff[3] became the subject of much discussion in the media. Her most recent album as of September 2009, Amanda Leigh, was released on May 26, 2009. Mandy Moore has sold more than 10 million records worldwide.

Early life

Moore was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, the daughter of Stacy, a former news reporter whom the Orlando Sentinel had once employed, and Donald “Don” Moore, a pilot for American Airlines. Moore’s father is of Irish and Cherokee descent, and her mother is of English and Jewish ancestry. Moore, who has two brothers, Scott Moore and Kyle Moore, grew up in Longwood, Florida, outside of Orlando, where the family moved shortly after her birth because of her father’s job as an airline pilot. She was raised in the Catholic religion, even though she is no longer a practicing Catholic, and attended Bishop Moore High School, a Catholic school in Orlando, as well as Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs.

Moore’s interest in singing grew after seeing the musical Oklahoma! She was also encouraged to perform by her maternal grandmother, who was her inspiration. Some of Moore’s first public exposure occurred when she sang the national anthem at several Florida sporting events. She subsequently came to the attention of the head of the artists and repertoire department at Epic Records after his friend, a FedEx employee, overheard her as she sang at a recording studio.

Personal life

Moore dated Philippines-born singer/actor Billy Crawford for a “few months” when she was younger.

Moore dated actor Wilmer Valderrama for eighteen months between 2000 and 2002. In 2006, Valderrama appeared on The Howard Stern Show and detailed that he and Moore were each other’s “first loves” although he did not claim that their relationship was sexual, as was alleged by several media sources who misquoted his remarks. Moore later referred to Valderrama as a “good guy” and a “gentleman” although she has stated that his comments about their relationship were “utterly tacky”.

Moore began dating tennis star Andy Roddick in 2002; Roddick ended the relationship in March 2004.

In November 2004, Moore began dating Scrubs actor Zach Braff. Referring to Braff, Moore said that she likes “good Jewish boy(s)… with a sense of humor”. In 2006, the two were incorrectly reported to be engaged and broke up later in 2006.

In early 2007, media reports linked Moore to Adam Goldstein, known professionally as “DJ AM” though the two were reported to have ended their relationship in March 2007.

Also in 2007, she briefly dated actor/singer Greg Laswell

Mandy Moore is set to follow in the footsteps of Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens, by becoming the next big Disney star.

Mandy has signed on to voice ‘Rapunzel’ in a new 3D animated version of the classic fairytale!

The story has been modernized a little, whereby instead of being held captive in the tower for her entire life, Rapunzel escapes and “goes on the run with a bandit as her captor pursues them”.

Shia LaBeouf’s star transformation

Shia LaBeouf’s star transformation

He may have one of the most mispronounced names in Hollywood, but there’s no doubt that Shia LaBeouf is one its biggest rising stars.

At just 23, he already has a CV packed with youthful TV work and films including Disturbia, Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, in which he plays the eponymous archaeologist’s son.

Later this year, LaBeouf starts shooting leading roles in John Grisham’s The Associate and in Oliver Stone’s Wall Street sequel, Money Never Sleeps.

He also revealed to the BBC, this week, that work is underway on a new Indiana Jones movie.

“Steven [Spielberg] just said he cracked the story on it before I left and I think they’re gearing that up,” he said.

Now he’s back on the big screen in the sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Here, LaBeouf discusses giant robots, the perils of working on a Michael Bay blockbuster, and how Megan Fox is “as alien as the aliens”.

What is different about the character of Sam in this new Transformers film?

He’s a bit more of a leader. He’s just saved the world – he’s dealing with the loss of sanity, he’s getting these insane bits of information…he’s trying to carve out his own little world, get away from the introspection and guidance of the parents.

Don’t you feel a bit upstaged by all these robots?

Not in a bad way. There’s moments when you don’t want people looking at you because you know what you’re saying feels weird. They’re great co-stars. They’re unbelievably amazing to watch, it’s the same with Megan – she’s as alien as the aliens. She’s phenomenal looking. It’s easy for me, I just live in the shadows.

Is it a bit of a distraction working with someone as beautiful as Megan Fox?

It’s the best kind of distraction – it’s great for troop morale. You got 50 men together for six or seven months, so it’s great to have Megan Fox around.

It’s not an easy situation for her to get those lascivious looks all the time. You have to be a very strong-willed person to be able to deal with it – which she is. She’s like one of the dudes, if you can imagine that.

Is working on a Michael Bay film as noisy and exhausting as it looks?

Far worse! Nobody comes out of the theatre with injuries. These movies are hard to make, they are aggressive, they’re a punch to the ribs. We’re selling an anxiety attack, so in order to make that you’ve got to live it.

You filmed around the pyramids in Egypt and at Petra in Jordan – what’s it like using some of the most famous places on Earth as your private playground?

They just open it up and let us do whatever we want – it’s fascinating. You almost can’t believe that they’re allowing it.

But we’re respectful of the spots that were at… if other people want to film at the pyramids they’ll look back at our movie and ask ‘were they respectful to us?’

The first film made more than $700m (£428m) – the sequel is a classic summer blockbuster. Is a movie like this just about making lots of money?

I would imagine the studio’s feeling is that – these movies support the studio system and make it so they can survive. They just went through financial calamity.

I know that Mike [director Michael Bay] isn’t interested in it in that way. He just wants to blow people’s minds. The primary goal in making movies like this, is to introduce people to magic tricks.

And I certainly don’t show up every day thinking about pay cheques. I’m financially well off compared to where I came from. I was good after the first movie – I didn’t show up again to get paid.

How do you unwind between movies?

I watch movies! I hang out at my house. I do normal mundane things. I like skeet [clay pigeon] shooting, I like to ride my motorcycle, I’ve got a coin collection – and I’m getting into stocks.

Silent Hill 2 (Movie) ~ Teaser Trailer

Silent Hill 2 (Movie) ~ Teaser Trailer

[media id=298 width=500 height=400]

Silent Hill is a 2006 horror film directed by Christophe Gans and written by Roger Avary. The story is an adaptation of the Silent Hill series of survival horror games created by Konami. The film, particularly its emotional and aesthetic content as well as its creature design, includes elements from Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, and Silent Hill 3. The film also includes some music, such as Wounded Warsong, from the fourth game. A game in the series released after the film, Silent Hill Homecoming, incorporated some elements of the film.

The film follows a mother, Rose, who takes her troubled adopted daughter, Sharon, to Silent Hill, the town the girl cries out for while sleepwalking. After being knocked unconscious in a car crash outside the town, Rose awakens to find her daughter missing and the town engulfed in an alternate reality of fog and falling ash. While searching for her daughter, she faces surreal reality shifts and monstrous creatures while uncovering her daughter’s connections to the town’s dark secrets.

Rose (Radha Mitchell) and her husband Christopher Da Silva (Sean Bean) are concerned about their adopted daughter Sharon (Jodelle Ferland) who has been experiencing nightmares and has begun sleepwalking. Their only clue to the girl’s condition is her repetition of the name “Silent Hill.”

Desperate for answers, Rose takes Sharon to the town of Silent Hill, West Virginia. On her way there, she attracts the suspicions of police officer Cybil Bennett (Laurie Holden), who gives chase on her motorbike. It is in the midst of this chase that Rose and Sharon arrive at Silent Hill: as they enter, Rose crashes the car in an attempt to avoid a mysterious child in the middle of the road, knocking herself unconscious. When she awakens, Sharon is nowhere to be seen.

Advanced screenings of Silent Hill were not given to critics by the distributor, and so no reviews could be printed until after the movie’s release. Metacritic’s average critic’s score is 30 out of 100. Rotten Tomatoes shows a freshness rating of 30 percent (with a zero percent rating from the few ‘Cream of the Crop’ critic reviews available for Silent Hill),

James Berardinelli of ReelViews gave the film a mildly positive review, awarding it two and a half stars (out of four). Berardinelli said “the film is overlong, with too many unnecessary scenes” and that “a lot of the movie seems like pointless running around”, but added that the film “looks great” and that “it packs in a few scary moments and offers a nicely ambiguous conclusion.” Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film one and a half stars (out of four), calling it “an incredibly good-looking film”, but said that he “did not understand the story” and criticized how “all through the movie, characters are pausing in order to offer arcane back-stories and historical perspectives and metaphysical insights and occult orientations.”
